Sam in Vineland, NJ
Sam

Mama (mother), Sam (father), and three babies in need of homes. 6/10/24 Update: piglets have been placed! Just the mommy & daddy pigs need homes now!

Someone purchased two pigs at an auction about 8-9 months ago for a friend, who changed their mind and no longer wanted two pigs. Unfortunately, it was a male/female pair and the female (who the family now calls Mama) had five babies on 3/13/24. As of the listing date, two piglets have been rehomed, and three remain: one female and two males. The parents, Mama and Sam, are also in need of homes.

All pigs have done fine around other animals like cats & dogs. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) They are skittish of people, with the exception of Sam, who is friendly and does well with all ages, including kids. They all currently live outside, but the babies are being listed as "indoor or outdoor" because of their age, although all of them are young enough that they would likely easily adapt to being indoor pigs.

Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.

These pigs are not altered so arrangements must be made to spay and neuter prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor. Altering piggies when they're young is safer and usually less expensive than waiting until it becomes a problem or a medical emergency.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/

Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.

Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
