Ruby in Archer, FL
Ruby

Three piglets were brought home in April, but unfortunately, half of the persons responsible for their care and finances abandoned them and the remaining person is not able to afford the vet costs on their own and new homes are desperately needed to avoid unwanted pregnancies. They aren't altered and were not separated, so pregnancies are a possibility.

Sophie, Ruby, and Kevin are three outdoor piglets who have no experience with kids, and seem to be fine with dogs on the other side of the fence but have not been in direct contact with them. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.)

Sophie (the pig formally known as Princess) is okay with scratches on head, but only if she knows you have food. She's the largest one.

Ruby is the most timid of the bunch and is very skittish. She loves watermelon and will usually take it from your hand, but is otherwise stand offish.

Kevin Bacon is the sweet and friendly one. He likes to pull off his human's shoes and thinks it's funny to nibble her knees (not hard! he's just being silly), and she thinks he likes to hear her squeal. He takes food from hands and will come up to you no problem.

Transportation is available within 50 miles to the new home.

None of these pigs are altered so arrangements must be made to spay or neuter prior to adoption to be completed ASAP. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor. Altering piggies when they're young is safer and usually less expensive than waiting until it becomes a problem or a medical emergency. The girls may be pregnant.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/

Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
