Pua and Portia, along with their sister Penelope, are looking for a new home. Their mom was told that pigs only live about 5 years and only found out that was incorrect much later. She is older and doesn't believe she'd be able to care for them their whole lives and knows it's better to rehome them when they are younger. 

Penelope, Pua, and Portia are three sisters born in Feb 2019. It would be ideal if all three could be adopted together, but if someone wanted just Penelope or Pua and Portia, that might be possible. They all do well with dogs and live with chickens. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) They are current on routine vet care. They live in an outside barn with pasture access and heat in winter and fan in summer. They have access to swimming pools and mud/small pond.

Pua and Portia are wonderful pigs. So friendly and sweet! They love the grandchildren and the dogs. Portia is grey and Pua is black. It looks like Pua may need a diet before a vet will spay her. 

Penelope is not pleasant when she is in heat. For a few days every month, she escapes and her mom describes her as "out of control". Once the mom found out that pigs live much longer than 5 years, she asked her vet about spaying her. The vet said she's too old (no, she isn't) and that maybe putting her down would be best (absolutely not!). Unfortunately, the mom is unable to get these girls to a vet that's able to spay adult pigs; but she is willing to pay for the spays for the new family. Once spayed, Penelope's hormones should calm down and she'll stop trying to escape and be a much more pleasant piggy when she doesn't have hormones ruling her each month. 

Pua & Portia do not have the same hormonal reaction while in heat, but their mom will be paying for them to be spayed by the new family since it's in their best interest for their health. 

Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements. Their mom can help with costs if a transportation company is needed.

These girls are not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors. Their mom will pay for the spays.
