Piggy Smalls is an unaltered outside piggy in need of a new home due to a move. He allows the children in the home to pet him (ages 2 and 5) but they do not go into his pen. He sees the dogs from outside the fence but they do not interact. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) There is a cat that sleeps in his house with him.
His mom said: "Piggy loves scratches on his side and loves to eat watermelon and pumpkin. He comes to “here piggy piggy” and loves playing in the hose in the hot summer to cool down. He used to be house trained and harness trained. He had an outdoor pen he went in when we were out of the house. One weekend we went out of town and when we came back he whined to go outside and stayed out there ever since. He prefers to stay out there. He has a house with warming in the winter and a cat who keeps him company from time to time. He is the only one in his pen, I’m not sure how he would do sharing a space with another animal"
Transportation is available within 50 miles to the new home.
Piggy Smalls is not altered so arrangements must be made to neuter prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
