Piggy in Fort White, FL
Piggy

Piggy is a super sweet and very friendly unaltered male pig in need of a good home who can provide proper care. He was abandoned by woman who brought him home & has been roaming the rural area ever since. For the last 3-4 months, a wonderful woman named Carolyn has been feeding Piggy and making sure he has fresh water. After he was attacked by an animal (presumably a dog) a few months ago, she cleaned his wounds and made sure he healed properly. Unfortunately, she is not able to provide vet care or transportation, and at her age and having to use a walker, keeping Piggy isn't an option.

Piggy is great with dogs and has been around them since he was a piglet. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) It's unknown how he'd do with kids or other animals, but he's been friendly to everyone he meets so far. He's a very loving guy who even comes inside Carolyn's home and hangs out with her & her dogs. He loves attention and belly rubs. He'll flop right over and close his eyes in contentment for scratches.

Piggy has never peed or pooped inside the home, but he's not an ideal house piggy at the moment since he's not neutered. That said, he enjoys coming in and hanging out so much, we're still listing him as either indoor or outdoor since we feel he would likely thrive in either environment once neutered.

Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.

Piggy is not altered so arrangements must be made to neuter prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor. Altering piggies when they're young is safer and usually less expensive than waiting until it becomes a problem or a medical emergency. There is financial assistance for altering Piggy!

If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/

Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
