Penelope is an outside pig in need of a home with a patient family, preferably one with piggy experience and no young kids. She doesn't mind or bother cats or chickens, and has co-lived with goats, although she would probably prefer not to. She'd probably do well with another pig, as well as strong family members who can reinforce that humans are the top hogs in the family.
Penelope is being rehomed due to some undesirable behaviors towards the mom and she's hesitant about letting her around the 6 y/o child in the home since. Penelope is pushy and should have treats limited since she gets pushier with food present. She likes tummy rubs when she wants them, and she loves to hang out in her nest.
Transportation is available (within reason) to the new home.
Penelope is not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
