Penelope in Reno, NV
Penelope

Penelope is a pig that came from an awful home who "didn't know when she was fed last" and where she was attacked by dogs. The dog attack resulted in her losing most of her tail, and even worse, she lost her mate. She was saved from that terrible place about four years ago, but unfortunately her current family is moving across the country and thinks the transport that far would be far too much for her to handle. She get loud and squeals until she is knows she's safe.

Penelope also goes by Penny or Piglet. She is harness trained and housebroken. She loves the farm and is left outside her double pen during the day. She penned after 6 pm chores. One of my sheep knocked her over so they are never out together. She has arthritis in her shoulders and knees and is on supplements for this. The vet estimated her age to be between 5 and 9 years old.

Because of her past history with dogs, a dog free home would be ideal. However, she does live with dogs. She once bit a doberman when she first arrived, the family watches the chihuahua when he's out, and the other two dogs steer clear of her. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.)

Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.

Penelope is not altered. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors. You should discuss with your vet as to whether she should be spayed.
