Opie is an outside pig who loves string cheese and just being able to roam the yard. He's good with kids of all ages. Opie seems fine with the dogs in the home, although the dogs do not like him. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) He knows "sit" and can "smile". Opie will need to go on a diet, as he's quite large for his age. Pig Placement Network can help you figure out a proper diet for him if you need assistance. It appears his vision may be affected by the excess weight around his face (or soon will be, if his diet is not corrected). You can read more about dieting here: RMF's Dieting an Obese Pet Pig
Transportation is not available from his family, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.
Opie is not altered so arrangements must be made to neuter prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
