Meet Maple! This cutie used to be an indoor pig. She potty trained very quickly when she lived indoors. She lived in a crate or slept in bed when she was younger. Once she got older, she just grew to love the outside so much more than being inside and she preferred being outdoors instead of indoors. Even when it gets really cold outside, she just prefers to be outside. She will come to you when you call her name. She enjoys blueberry pig treats. She loves watermelon, pumpkin, zucchini, squash and other fruits and veggies! She loves belly rubs!
Maple and the dog used to sleep together, but now that she is outside they don't spend a lot of time together. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) She's a good listener and will not do something if you tell her not to. She doesn't mess up the yard or wallow in the mud, although she does have a pond which probably helps. She will walk in the pond, get wet and then come back out. She has been to the vet several times, but not in the past year. She can be a diva sometimes, but overall she is a good pig! She does well with kids of all ages, and was housebroken & crate trained.
Transportation is available within 100 miles to the new home. She traveled well.
Maple is not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
