12/19/23: Luna is still available! She is now on a strict schedule to go outside for potty breaks and is not having accidents. She can still be moody. She tries to show dominance with new people (mostly pushing with her snout), but gets better as she gets to know them. Food helps, since she is food driven. She occasionally nips, but it is rare.
Meet Luna! She is a cuddler when she wants to sleep, and enjoys grazing outside about 3-4 times daily. She was completely housebroken… however, her living situation & routine changed recently. She now gets very moody and has some bad behaviors including biting and having accidents. Previously, she good with kids. She lives with dogs & a cat and is fine with them. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) She is crate trained, and once she's back in a normal living situation when she has regular outside access to a yard, she'll likely stop having accidents, as well.
Transportation is available to her new home within 100 miles.
Luna is not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors. Altering piggies when they're young is safer and usually less expensive than waiting until it becomes a problem or a medical emergency. Luna's family has fallen on hard times and they know she'd likely have fewer behavior issues if she was spayed, but that's not something they can afford. They may be able to help the new family with the cost, though.
