Jelly Roll is one of a number of pigs in need of a home from this location. The person rehoming them had their landlord's permission to get pigs, but the landlord has since changed their mind and said they have to be rehomed after they rooted up the yard. There are 14 pigs total, as none have been altered. Jelly Roll is the father to a number of younger pigs, but is currently the only pig listed.
There are also two mommas (2.5 year old sisters) and three 6 month old pigs who are socialized, and a number of young piglets recently born who are not socialized in need of homes.
Jelly Roll is a good boy who doesn't bother anyone. He does well with kids (has been around ages 4+), as well as with other animals. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) He is a handsome young guy who is very smart. He's also going to need appropriate pig-fencing, as he's rooted out of the fencing whenever his current family has tried to separate him from the girls. A large part of that is likely because he's unaltered and smelling unaltered girls on the other side of the fence, so he may very well not have the impulses to escape once he's neutered.
Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.
None of the pigs are altered so arrangements must be made to spay or neuter prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor. Altering piggies when they're young is safer and usually less expensive than waiting until it becomes a problem or a medical emergency.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
