9/12/24: Now named Harry and in foster with Eastern Snouts!
Please join Eastern Snouts Pig Adoption and Rehoming to fill out the adoption application.
Bertie was known as Betty until today - it has been a day full of surprises for this sweet boy and the family currently caring for him! He appears to be a handsome and friendly boy who was wandering around the neighborhood recently and is assumed to have been dumped and abandoned. A lovely family started feeding the pig a week ago and now he is staying in their yard.
Bertie is a very friendly pig! He's very obviously domesticated and socialized; he'll come right up to people. He's very clean and appears to be neutered. He's even good with the 3 dogs in the home and they all run around the yard together. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) He's smart, too - he already knows to knock on the door when he wants to be fed!
Transportation is available to the new home.
It is not confirmed whether Bertie is neutered or not, but he appears to be neutered. If he turns out to be unaltered, the adopters must have him neutered. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor.
