1/30/24: Still Available! Esmerelda and Spook were abandoned when their owner moved out six months ago. The person who has been caring for them since is unable to keep them long term and is concerned for their safety if they're not rehomed by winter. These pigs have had a rough life. They were kept in a pen full of junk, seldom having clean water and usually fed only once a day, if that. Now, they free range in the yard, mostly staying in an area outside a bedroom window, except for when they voluntarily go in the barn on their own to sleep in inclement weather. They seem to be fine with dogs & cats, though they have been around more cats than dogs. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) While they have never been around children, Esmerelda is especially tame, and enjoys being pet and receiving belly rubs.
Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.
These girls are not altered so arrangements must be made to spay prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Spaying prevents unwanted litters, curbs behavior problems, and prevents uterine tumors.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
