Introducing the wonderful little lady Defoe! She's a very sweet and timid girl who needs a home with easy outside access. When we say "easy outside access", we mean really easy access. She needs a home that is a single level with absolutely no steps, ramps, or inclines. Easy, flat access to grassy area is needed, preferably not having to cross sidewalks, pathways, or other barriers to be able to get to the lawn. She's not much of a rooter, but she loves being outside and spending her days grazing.
She's not particularly friendly - she's not aggressive in anyway, but she is very fearful of both people and other animals. Her family needs patience and time to continue working with Defoe on socializing and helping her feel comfortable. She cannot go to a home with dogs as she would be overly vulnerable to dogs. Cats, rabbits, and other similar small animals would be fine to share a home with. A calmer home, without very young or very excitable/loud children is desired.
Special Needs: Defoe is a victim of severe inbreeding and is missing some bones in her rear legs. This causes significant mobility issues, but she scoots around and gets where she needs to get. (You can see videos of her scooting around on our Facebook page here.) Her weight needs to be kept at a consistent level and her diet will forever need to be closely monitored. Excess weight gain on a piggy with mobility issues is substantial issue that needs to be avoided. She also has an abdomen hernia. We actually thought she was a hermaphrodite when she first came here because of how it looked!
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
