Carnita is a lovely house piggy who enjoys her yard time. She's crate trained, harness trained, and housebroken. She knows most of her tricks verbally and non-verbally with hand signals. She knows: sit, spin, reverse, back up, leave it, wait, go around/over there, hoof. She also knows verbal commands like "go potty", "go to your bed/house", "ramp", "all done", and "come". Carnita spent time with children and dogs when she was younger, but COVID changed her socialization time and has not been around kids or dogs for a few years now. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) A home without young and rambunctious kids or dogs might be best for her.
Her mom said the following about her: "She doesn't like cold weather, snow/ice in particular. She prefers all meals to be warm. She likes to be tucked in with blankets and to be scratched between her front two legs on her chest. She doesn't like plain lettuces but she does like arugula. She likes to play "go find it" - toss a small treat out for her to find in the house/yard. She likes unscented lotion - and goes crazy for Lubriderm. Peanut butter does the trick for baths. She likes small pieces of ice and watery meals more than she likes to drink from a bowl. She isn't a huge fan of visitors in the home but can usually handle it okay. She has her own bedroom with an 8' x 6' wooden "house" enclosure with a door that was built for her. It is filled with blankets and pillows and it is one of her favorite places to be. The enclosure can be disassembled and taken with her so she can have a sense of normalcy as she adjusts to her new family. She also uses a ramp to get up and down one step to go outside to potty. Her ramp, coat, harness, and any of her other belongings can stay with her. We feel she would do best somewhere with warm temperatures and slow living. She doesn't like loud noises - we live near an airport, in line with take-off/landing and she has been spooked so many times outside in her yard by the planes."
Special Needs: She has been diagnosed with arthritis and takes meloxicam every morning. This is dissolved in her breakfast each day. She is prone to dippity with weather changes. She must wear sunscreen.
