9/5/24: Still available! Main profile photo is new! Big Pig was dumped by neighbors a few years ago. Unfortunately, he keeps getting out of his pen and going to neighbors house where he used to live and that's not safe for him. The person who has been caring for him is unable to get him neutered, which may help the escape/wandering behavior, so rehoming is the best way to keep this handsome boy safe.
Big Pig likes to be pet and likes to be a part of whatever you're doing. He does well with kids of all ages. He's just a sweet guy with a gentle personality. The person who rescued him saw dogs attack him at one point and he didn't fight back. Big Pig gets along with friendly dogs, but care should be taken when introducing any pig and dog, especially if the pig has had negative experiences before. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) A home where he'd have a pig friend would be ideal! (It would need to be a male pig, or an already spayed female to prevent any possibility of unwanted litters occurring.)
Transportation is not available, so the adopter will need to make arrangements.
Big Pig is not altered so arrangements must be made to neuter prior to adoption. Intact pigs do not make the best companion animals. Neutering prevents behavior issues and eliminates that classic boar odor.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application and mention the name, city, and state of the pig(s) you're interested in: https://www.pigplacementnetwork.org/online-adoption-application/
Qualified homes must 1) be in a zone friendly community, 2) locate a vet that will care for pet pigs, 3) own their home.
Donations to PPN are greatly appreciated so we can continue to help pigs.
