Axl Rose in Newhall, CA
Axl Rose

9/18/23: Still in need of a home! Axl Rose is a selective piggy who bonds to one person. He seems to not like most people, children, or other animals. The family has one small dog and they are never left along together because Axl does not like the dog. A home without dogs is best. (Dogs and pigs should always be supervised and never left alone when together.) While he only really enjoys spending time with one person, with that person (currently his mom) he is a complete love bug. He's also super smart and knows a bunch of tricks. Axl can spin in circles and spin backwards. He can shake both hooves. He can walk backwards when told to go back. He also can wait for a good few seconds when told to wait.

Here's is the description his mom provided: Axl has been a very grumpy piggy from the very beginning. He really only likes me (his mama) and tolerates the rest of the family but not a fan of people. He is very selective with strangers. Some people he is ok with at a distance and most people he hates. He can be aggressive and try to charge at people but will run away if i’m there to shoo him away. This has made it nearly impossible to have anyone babysit for us and when we have people over we have to lock him up away from everyone. He can be snappy and has attempted to bite on many occasions bit hasn’t hurt us (yet.) Other than that, when he finds his person, he is a love bug. Loves belly rubs and back scratches and just hanging out and sunbathing. He has been my tanning buddy the last 4 years. He loves doing tricks for treats and grunts and is so happy to see me every time i go outside. His favorite are watermelon and cheerios but he loves any fruit. We never give him table food. He will even eat his greens like kale and spinach and broccoli. He hates bell peppers and snap peas. He definitely needs someone who has experience with grumpy piggies and someone who will have the patience to gain his trust. This terrifies me and has been the reason I have waited to re-home him.

Axl's mom does not want to rehome him, but the current situation in the family is necessitating it. She's heartbroken and knows Axl's new home needs a patient and pig savvy person to work with him.
